Spring is in the air! Let's not forget about concussions.

Spring is finally approaching!

Let the fun times begin! Hanging out at the pool with friends, sitting by the fire, cookouts, baseball, softball, soccer, swimming, children at the playground and riding bicycles, just to mention a few activities for the nice weather. Sounds great doesn’t it? And it is, but we must look at the possibility of injuries as well.

With added activities and fun, it is important to take extra precautions to yourself and loved ones safe. Concussions are a common injury but are too often overlooked. It is important to wear appropriate gear for activities and know signs and symptoms of a concussion.


What is a concussion? It is a brain injury that can be caused by a hit or blow to the head or by a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move back and forth.

Know the signs and symptoms: Headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision and confusion. Now this is only a few of the symptoms that could indicate a concussion. Please follow the links below to see the detailed lists.

Immediate Medical care is needed for any head trauma. Do not ignore the injury and think “it will be ok”. Call you medical provider or go to emergency room and let the doctor examine you.
