Bivalent COVID booster available at Susquehanna Wellness Clinic, home visits offered

CLEARFIELD, Pa. - The new bivalent COVID-19 booster shots are now available at the Susquehanna Wellness Clinic, with locations in both Clearfield and Frenchville. Appointments can also be made to receive a booster at home for those with limited or no transportation options.

The Moderna vaccine bivalent booster obtainable at the clinic differs from the original in that it is designed to protect against two strains of the COVID virus, providing greater protection against variants. Moderna designed the new formula to target both the Beta variant, which surfaced in South Africa in July 2020, and the original variant of SARS-CoV-2. The Moderna bivalent booster has been approved for those 18 years of age and older who have received the first two shots in the original COVID series. This bivalent booster can be given after at least eight weeks of receiving any shot of the original monovalent COVID vaccine.

Mature Resources, a subsidiary of the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, (CCAAA) opened the Susquehanna Wellness Clinic in Frenchville in 2020. The agency followed that with the opening of a second location in the former PennDOT building on Daisy Street in Clearfield in 2022. The clinic’s mission is to provide patient-focused care for adults aged 18 and older with an emphasis on providing quality and meaningful care. The comprehensive approach provides chronic care management, telehealth and telemedicine services, as well as onsite health and wellness programs. Other services include patient transportation to medical appointments, in home services to patients physically unable to come into the clinic, and remote visits to senior centers and high rises. Additionally, SWC participates in most managed care plans, processes most insurances, and is able to accept credit card and cash payments.

The clinic is now accepting new patients.
